CPAP Filters & Health Device Replacements
CPAP machines deliver pressurized air directly into your airways while you sleep. Every particle that passes through a degraded filter enters your lungs. Clean CPAP filters are not just a maintenance item — they are a health necessity that directly impacts your sleep apnea therapy effectiveness and respiratory health.

CPAP Filter Replacement: What You Need to Know
CPAP machines use two types of filters: disposable white ultra-fine filters and reusable gray foam/pollen filters. The disposable filter captures fine particles (dust, mold spores) and must be replaced regularly. The reusable foam filter catches larger debris and should be washed weekly.
For ResMed AirSense 10/11, the standard filter is a white hypoallergenic disposable. For Philips DreamStation, it uses a blue reusable pollen filter plus a white disposable ultra-fine filter. These are NOT interchangeable between brands — ResMed filters do not fit Philips machines and vice versa.
Insurance and Medicare often cover CPAP supplies including filters. Check with your DME (Durable Medical Equipment) provider. Even without coverage, compatible CPAP filters at $0.50-1.00 each are negligible compared to the health cost of breathing through a dirty filter.
